about this map
This solar farm was built onsite at the Lawerence Livermore National Lab and completed in late 2016. The 3.3 MW fixed-tilt solar photovoltaic facility represents one of the largest US Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration solar energy deployments at the onsite facility.
This 10-acre solar farm produces 6,300 megawatt-hours, enough to power roughly 1 million residential homes.
This Change Detection map includes:
Before: Lidar which Hivemapper provides for about 30% of the United States.
After: Imagery collected in Aug 2019 from a Cessna aircraft flying at roughly 750ft above ground level that was then transformed into a 3D map and accurately georegistered.
The absolute accuracy of this Change Detection map is 30cm, which means no structure is off by more than 30cm in any direction.
This map was made from images collected with a Nikon D850 and 18mm Carl Zeiss Milvis lens mounted to a Cessna 182RG with a SkyIMD aerial pod.
